After-Hours Change for Reporting Outages - May 17

(May 1, 2017) — In mid-May, Meriwether Lewis Electric Co-op is changing where, and how, outages are reported after hours. The number will be publicized closer to the tentative switch date of May 17.

“Cooperative Response Center, Inc., located in Dunlap, Tennessee, will be handling our after-hour outage reporting and relaying details to MLEC linemen in the field,” says MLEC President and CEO Keith Carnahan. “One of the many benefits includes a quicker response when call volumes are high. During these situations, CRC facilities in Texas and Minnesota will assist in taking MLEC member calls so that they are helped as quickly as possible.”

Once the transition happens, those needing to report a power outage after hours will need to supply their phone number to either the call center representative or interactive voice response system. MLEC asks members to make sure their phone number is correct in the MLEC system prior to the change by contacting their local office.
