A good portion of your home's energy bill represents the amount of water heated and used for cooking, cleaning, and laundry. With the percentage being substantial, there is always room for improvement. MLEC can help with purchasing and energy saving information. We also offer electric bill credits on qualifying purchases.
Take a good look at electric water heaters. Standard models are safe, clean and efficient. There is no open-flame or exposure to gas by-products such as carbon monoxide.
- Consider capacity. Keep your family in hot water by getting a large enough unit.
- Remember the energy rating. The higher this number is, the better the unit will be for your use. When it comes to efficiency, remember the real savings start on units with an energy rating of .93 and higher.
- Don’t discard the idea of using new technology. Lifetime warranted water heaters and heat pump water heaters may cost more on the front end; however, they can save energy and pay for themselves over the life of the unit.
MLEC offers electric bill credits on the purchase and installation of electric water heaters in new and existing homes and manufactured homes. Incentives range from $25 to $250.
To receive your credit, supply proof of purchase with an original receipt and complete an incentive form, which is located here.
