E-mail details of the event, location and a contact name and phone number to power@mlec.net . We can also help you reach your target market by inserting an advertisement in the more than 33,000 bills mailed by MLEC each month. Call MLEC for price and print specifications. At MLEC we believe that giving back to our community is our civic responsibility. One way we do that is by supporting our local chambers of commerce. The chamber of commerce is a voluntary organization of individuals and businesses that band together to advance the commercial, financial, industrial and civic interests of the county they serve. MLEC is a proud member of the following Chambers of Commerce: Hickman County Chamber of Commerce
Houston County Chamber of Commerce Humphreys County Chamber of Commerce
Lewis County Chamber of Commerce Perry County Chamber of Commerce
At MLEC it is our goal to stay aware of our community needs and look for ways we can help. We know economic development and community growth depend upon the support and cooperation of people like us. And we are a utility that does more than simply provide electricity - we empower our community. MLEC provides annual funding to economic development agencies in Hickman, Humphreys and Lewis counties. We have provided zero-interest loan monies to new or expanding businesses that are creating new jobs. We provide revolving loan monies for projects in communities that might not otherwise have funding through a grant from the Rural Development. For more information e-mail us at power@mlec.net.
MLEC's employees care about their communities and neighbors. They contribute their time by coaching little league teams, being volunteer firemen and Sunday school teachers, serving on economic and community development boards and civic organizations. Some employees also designate that money be deducted out of each payroll to help their neighbors in need. A fund is set up to benefit each county. During the holidays, employees give that money to help families by paying electric bills, helping buy Christmas presents, eye exams, and so on. MLEC employees also participate in other programs throughout the year, such as donating money to the Leukemia Society of America, by participating in their annual "dress down" programs, and by contributing to the fund raising auctions for the American Cancer Society.
Meriwether Lewis Electric Cooperative is a proud and enthusiastic supporter of our area schools. Being a vital part of our communities is an important part of our mission, and the heartbeat of our communities lies in our schools. We sponsor many school programs and activities in Hickman, Houston, Humphreys, Lewis and Perry Counties.
