Safety Presentations
An MLEC representative will be glad to come into your classroom to make presentations on how electricity works on safety around electricity. We can tailor them to your specific needs. They include:
- Louie the Lightning Bug: Louie is a jazz singin' lightning bug who teaches elementary school kids how to "Play It Safe Around Electriciy." Louie stars in a video which covers topics such as staying away from downed power lines and not overloading electrical outlets. He uses humor and songs to show how to prevent electrical accidents. This video is available for checkout from MLEC, or someone from MLEC will make a presentation to your class. There are also Louie stickers, coloring books, posters and more featuring different points about playing it safe around electricity.
- Electrojuice: This is a safety film for middle and high school students. It tells the story of a young man who is jolted on the job by Electrojuice, the personification of the danger of electricity. The movie uses music video slickness and humor to present a serious message about electrical safety. Electrojuice is available for checkout, or MLEC will make a presentation to your class.
- Electric Junction: This live demonstration shows how safety around electricity is a must for all ages. Participants meet Neon Leon & Lightnin' Lizzie to see how electricity travels through the body and to the ground. It is a realistic message showing how electrical accidents happen and enforcing how they can be prevented.
