What is MLEC’s Online Billing service?

This powerful Internet application delivers flexibility and convenience busy schedules demand. With online billing you can receive and pay your MLEC bill through the Internet via a secure site.

What does MLEC’s Online Billing service allow you to do?

How does it work?

You must enroll before using. Log on to www.mlec.com and click the “Online Billing” button on the left side of your screen to begin the enrollment process. Read the short instructions carefully.

Once enrolled, members receive their MLEC bill via e-mail instead of U.S. mail. (You may receive one last paper bill depending on when your MLEC account is billed.) Enrollment will be confirmed via e-mail. After that, you will receive an e-mail from MLEC each month approximately 10 days before your due date stating a bill is ready. Link from that e-mail to MLEC’s Online Billing site to view and/or pay your bill.

Do I have to pay online if I view the bill online?

No. You can view the bill only and pay by another method (U.S. mail, bank draft, stop by the office, call in a credit card number, etc.).  Note: If using a check, please print your MLEC account number on it to ensure crediting to the appropriate account.

While trying to view my bill I received a message about 128-bit Encryption. What is this and why do I need it?

To ensure privacy and security of your transactions, you should have 128-bit SSL (security sockets layer) encryption. This is the strongest type of encryption used on the Web. (Internet Explorer 6.0 and Netscape Navigator support this encryption. To upgrade your current Internet browser to either of these versions, download the free upgrades by selecting the icons located on the bottom of the Login page.)

Can I cancel or add another electronic account to this service?

Yes.  Login and go to the “Current Invoice List” screen and click “Billing Accounts” at the bottom of your screen. This takes you to the “Billing Account Maintenance” screen. Click “Deactivate” to cancel or “Add Another Account” depending on the task you want to complete. (Note: An account must be “Activated” in order to be viewed and paid electronically. Also, there is no need to re-enroll if you choose to use the service again. Log in using your ID and password and click "Activate." You're ready to go.

My account shows a balance, but I’ve paid my bill. What’s the deal?

If you choose to only view your bill online, your account will not show a zero balance online. For security reasons, only accounts paid online will be updated with payments. However, the electronic bill you receive next month will show a past due balance of zero when you view a copy of the actual bill.

Can I pay my bill online? Yes. VISA, MasterCard, or direct debit to your checking account is accepted.

How do I pay online? On the “Current Invoice List” click “Enroll for Payment Service” at the bottom of the screen. Follow the simple instructions to use your credit card or checking account.

What if I forget my password?

When you enrolled you created a password reminder. To access this click “Forgot Password” on the opening screen. You will have three options. 1) Use the password reminder clue 2) e-mail customer service for assistance in resetting a new password, or 3) call your local MLEC office to have a new password assigned.

What do I do if I receive a password error message?

Make sure you used the proper upper and lower case letters and included no dashes or spaces when entering your password. If you still experience problems, e-mail customer service for assistance in resetting a new password, or call your local MLEC office to have a new password assigned.

I have more than one account. What are my options?

You can choose to view and pay one, more or all of your accounts online. Only those accounts you activate will be available for viewing and paying online. You will continue to receive a paper bill for any accounts you don’t activate.

I didn't receive my e-mail notification. Am I still responsible for a late fee?

Unfortunately, as with regular US mail, there is no way to guarantee the delivery of your bill once it is sent. Therefore, it is the member's responsibility to check the online site for the posting of your current bill, and late charges will be applied if not paid on or before the due date. If you do not receive your e-mail notification log on to the online system to view your bill. It will be posted to the site at least one week before the due date.
