Project
Help
This voluntary program allows members to contribute
each month to help those in temporary financial difficulty
pay their winter energy bills. Most members have one dollar
added to their monthly bill; others make a one-time contribution.
Money is distributed each year through community action agencies
in each county. All funds stay in the county in which they
are contributed. If you would like to contribute to Project
Help, please e-mail power@mlec.net
with the following information:
- The name on your MLEC account
- The full mailing address
- Your phone number
- The amount you wish to give
- Indicate if this is a one-time gift, or
if you want it added monthly to your electric bill.
After your request to contribute is received,
you will be contacted by an MLEC representative to verify
your request.

Special
Billing Date
This program is for members who are at least
55 and live on a fixed income. Participants read their own
electric meter on the 20th of each month and mail the reading
to the office on a card provided by MLEC. This makes their
due date coincide with the receipt of their monthly check.
To sign-up, e-mail us at power@mlec.net
and we'll mail you a form and a supply of cards.

Weather
Alert Radios
|
Safety is priority in severe storm situations.
You want to know what weather is coming and when to
expect it. To provide your family with precious time
and remove yourself from the storm's path, you need
accurate, local information.
Reecom® weather alert radios available
from MLEC provide that information and time. We have
the best features and the finest quality - saving lives
and property!
You can choose one of two, easily programmed
models from MLEC. Both apply Specific Area Message Encoding
(S.A.M.E.) technology responding to broadcasts from
both the National Weather Service (NWS) and the Federal
Communication Commission's Emergency Alert System (EAS).
|
 |
|
Why is S.A.M.E.
technology so important? It allows you to
program the radio to your specific area, or up to 20
others that may be of interest to you. This prevents
you from being awakened at 2 a.m. for a weather warning
that applies to counties far away. The county warnings
you hear are up to you. You can then rest assured knowing
if the alert does sound, it is in the area you specified,
virtually eliminating false alarms!
Several different
hazard warnings are transmitted to the Reecom® radios.
Some of these include tornado, hurricane, severe thunderstorm,
flood/flash flood, winter storm, blizzard, high wind,
immediate evacuation, severe thunderstorm statement,
911 phone outage, civil danger, child abduction, local
area emergency, law enforcement warning, earthquake,
tsunami, chemical spill, radiological hazard, fire warning,
hazardous materials and national hazard warning.
To purchase your Reecom® weather
alert radio, visit our online
store. To receive a brochure by mail, e-mail us
at power@mlec.net
with your mailing address and type "Weather Alert Radio
Brochure" in the subject box.
